To simulate the appearance of peculiar organisms such as marine invertebrates, Bohemian masters Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka used glass to reproduce gelatinous bodies. At the Specola to solve the problem of the fragility of wax, a wood-carving workshop is added to the Ceroplast Workshop to make puzzles of anatomical models, the production of which, however, remains limited. In France, on the other hand, a manufacture of puzzle-made anatomical models is created in papier-mâché being a more malleable material. Over time, anatomy will be replicated with increasingly inexpensive materials until it leads to the creation of models for educational use in school laboratories and scientific institutes that we are all now familiar with.
